Three Projects in One Lesson Plan
Today we’re using Five Star 3D Creative Paint – a bright, ready-to-use coloured PVA glue that dries glossy and creates raised, squishy textures. It’s non-toxic and comes in heaps of colours. This lesson plan includes three creative ideas kids will love, and there’s a FREE PDF version below so you can download, print, and go.
What You’ll Need:
Paper or thin card (or plastic if you want to peel designs off)
Pencil
Five Star 3D Creative Paints (non-toxic, glossy finish in a wide range of colours)
Bowl or circular object (for Feathering)
Toothpick or stylus
Plastic sheet or acetate (for Fishy Scene)
Pen and paper

🦋 Activity 1: 3D Butterfly Squishy Mirror Picture
1. Lightly fold a sheet of paper in half to make a centre line. Open it flat again.
2. On one side, lightly sketch half a butterfly shape in pencil.
3. Use Five Star 3D Creative Paint to outline the shape, then add colourful dots and lines. Don’t overdo it with the paint.
4. Fold the page back over and press gently – open it up to reveal your mirrored butterfly!
Optional: Add more lines to define the wings or draw on antennae.
Tip: This is perfect for the younger age group – they’ll love the surprise when it opens!

🌀 Activity 2: 3D Feathering with Circles
1. Use a bowl to trace a large circle onto card or plastic.
2. Starting from the outside, squeeze a ring of Five Star 3D Creative Paint.
3. Keep adding smaller coloured rings toward the middle.
4. With a toothpick or stylus, drag from the centre to the outside in straight lines. Wipe the tool between drags.
Tip: This looks amazing on black card!

🐟 Activity 3: 3D Fishy Scene on Plastic
1. Draw a fish outline on paper, then place acetate or plastic over it.
2. Trace the outline with Five Star Creative Paint – black works well for this. Let it dry a little (about 1 hour).
3. Fill in the eye with white. When it forms a skin, dot black for the eyeball.
4. Colour the rest of the fish with swirls, stripes or dots using other paint colours.
5. To make a sea scene, paint a background on card with dye or acrylic paint. Let dry. Then, peel off your dried fish and stick them on with Blu Tack!
Bonus Tip: Want a window sticker? Rub dish soap on the back and press it onto glass – it’ll stick for months!
Wrap-Up:
These projects are great for all ages and are ideal for school or at home. They let kids explore textures, symmetry, and colours in a hands-on, sensory way. The Five Star 3D Creative Paint gives a lovely raised, glossy effect – perfect for making art that stands out.
