You will need:
METHOD
To produce the design, draw on the foam with a soft pencil (like a 4B) or ballpoint pen, pressing lines and areas into the sheet.
Place Five Star Artists Printing Ink on a flat smooth surface (baking tray, lino, formica), and roll till it feels tacky.
Roll the ink onto the surface of the printing foam design.
Lay your printing paper over the inked surface. Then, use your hand or a clean roller to burnish the back of the print, ensuring even pressure (usually, hand pressure is sufficient).
Peel back the print and allow it to dry (approximately 4 hours).
Wash the Printing Foam and equipment with water.
Handy Hints
Extra colour can be added to the dry print with felts, crayons or pastels. Use Artists Ink Clear Medium to create light glowing tones for backgrounds. Five Star Printing Foam can also be used with Five Star Paints water-based paints. Blue tack the Printing Foam to a piece of scrap card to prevent movement.
To print words or numbers, write your words on a piece of thin paper. Turn the paper over onto the Printing Foam (written side down), then press the letters onto the Printing Foam with a ballpoint pen. Remove the paper and incise the lines on the Printing Foam a little deeper.
